Adopting your new pet from the Hancock County Animal Shelter can be as easy as 1-2 -3 !
The first step is to visit the shelter and view all of our adoptable animals. Although breeds, ages, sexes and sizes vary from day to day, we are always taking in numerous animals whom for one reason or another find themselves needing a permanent and forever home.
Once you've found the right pet that suits you, a shelter staff member will begin the adoption application process and help you through the process. Our application consists of three pages requiring vital information such as, your address, your telephone number, and email address, and a contract form. Once the adoption application has been finished and your adoption fee has been paid, your new pet will be scehduled for spay or neuter the following day.
The final step of the process is picking up your newly adopted pet at the shelter. Before leaving please check and double check your adoption package to insure that it includes your pet's vaccination records, microchip information, and your free veterinary check up form and rabies voucher.
With every pet adoption your new pet will recieve a free microchip, first set of vaccinations that include the Fel-O-Vax vaccine for cats and the Duramune Max 5 and Bronchi-Sheild III for dogs. Your free veterinary check up must be scheduled within the first 10 days of adoption before it is null or invalid. Upon your free veterinary check up you will recieve your free rabies vaccination if your pet is age appropriate.
